Vox Juventa

Vox Juventa – a PLDA event

Where knowledge ends and expertise begins

Newcomers to the lighting design community have a key advantage vis-à-vis experienced designers. They can build on existing and established knowledge and supplement it with their new findings and their own expertise. Hearing the young designers’ papers is more than refreshing. It is like taking a dose of vitamins. “I can acquire that kind of know-how myself”, you will say, “if only I knew where and when”.

Vox Juventa is the conference for the new generation. PLDA has been organising this speakers’ competition for lighting designers under the age of 35 for six years. An independent jury selects the six best submissions from numerous submissions, offering the authors a platform to present in front of an international audience of professionals at PLDC. The best speaker is awarded € 1,000 in prize money. Speakers are required to present only cutting-edge topics and research findings. In addition to the content the jury also evaluates the speakers’ professionalism and presentation skills.

PLDA aims at using Vox Juventa to support the young designers’ integration into the market and to acknowledge their professionalism. Previous years have demonstrated that the young generation of lighting designers can hold their own against lighting professionals who have been in the business for years, and their presentations have set new standards.

Attending this year’s Vox Juventa track at PLDC will definitely be worth your while!
