11.00 - 12.30 PLDA Sustainability Meeting

On the occasion of PLDC in Madrid, PLDA Director for Sustainability Giovanni Traverso will be holding a pre-convention Sustainability Meeting on Wednesday,
19. October, 2011. Discussions will concern topics of daylight, well-being, new technologies, awareness and regulations. The Sustainability Meeting targets the forming of a work-group for the continuation and further development of the PLDA green-pages as well as founding a basis for an interior workshop on sustainability, covering the topics of efficiency, circadian rhythm, and daylight control systems and their integration into architecture.

13.30 - 15.00 Educators' Knowledge Transfer Session

Calling all Educators in the field of Lighting Design PLDC 2011 in Madrid is offering a unique pre-convention opportunity for educators to share ideas in a coordinated Knowledge Transfer format. On 19. October, 2011 educators are invited to present a Teaching Module which they found to be especially effective in helping students to learn or become aware of specific learning content. 

Teaching Modules might include: e-learning formats, model-making, team project work, practical lighting tasks, bibliographic resources, demonstration activities, study tasks, excursions, instructional scaffolding, graphic organisers, etc. Share your ideas with colleagues, learn from others and enrich your teaching repertoire!


The session will be chaired by Alison Ritter. Admission is free.

13.30 - 15.00 Associations' Meeting

A further Lighting Associations Meeting organised by PLDA and to be held as a pre-convention meeting to PLDC 2011 will take place on 19. October, 2011 at 13.30 - 15.00.
The aim of the meeting with representatives of other international lighting design associations is to further discuss collaboration, the sharing of information and views, and mutual support.
PLDA express their thanks to all associations interested in participating and sharing the commitment in bringing the Associations together once again within the positive framework of PLDC 2011. Many associations are already involved in the PLDC 2011 event, and for this reason PLDA looks forward to welcoming many attendees at the Lighting Associations Meeting.

15.30 - 18.30 Joint PLDA and European Lighting Industry Forum

One key pre-convention meeting will take the form of an Industry Forum where the lighting design community meets the European lighting industry, represented by the associations CELMA & ELC, to discuss latest activities and initiatives and the common way forward for good quality and energy efficient lighting in the interest of society in general.
 The Forum will focus on the main topics of EU Lighting System Legislation and the immediate and long-term significance of that vision for lighting designers, the standardisation of performance requirements for LED luminaires, and the positive effects of light on human health. Questions + Answer times are planned in to encourage discussion and debate.
