Pre-convention meetings
Pre-convention meetings – plan in an extra day at PLDC 2013
On Wednesday 30. October, 2013 – prior to the PLDC 2013 conference proper – a number of pre-convention meetings will be taking place at the PLDC venue in Copenhagen. These sessions are primarily dedicated to educational issues (Educators’ Knowledge Transfer Session, meetings for schools teaching Lighting Design or (under)graduates studying it) or issues relating to the profession (recognition, certification) or the lighting industry (standards for new technologies).
PLDC attendees will be able to register once the details of the contents of the pre-convention meetings have been defined and confirmed.
If you would like to hold an association or company meeting before, during or after PLDC, please contact Ms. Louise Ritter at lritter@via-internet.com.
Educators’ Meeting
A group of educators who got together six months ago to discuss the contents and format for a pre-convention meeting at PLDC 2013 have discovered they have a lot more on their agenda than can be handled in a two-hour session. They are currently seriously discussing founding an organisation/association for educators teaching Lighting Design at all levels. The pre-convention meeting in Copenhagen will be discussing the way forward for this dedicated group of professionals.
If you wish to receive an invitation to this meeting, please contact Ms. Louise Ritter at lritter@via-internet.com
This pre-convention meeting is free-of-charge.
Early Career Researchers’ Meeting
The pre-convention meeting for PhD students will give early career researchers the opportunity to share information and experience on research topics and methods, and discuss ways of communicating their activities to universities, the lighting industry and practising lighting designers. Part of the meeting is to be spent together with the educators’ group.
If you wish to receive an invitation to this meeting, please contact Mrs. Alison Ritter at aritter@via-internet.com
This pre-convention meeting is free-of-charge.Lighting design quality – a new definition
A number of leading international researchers and scientists will be meeting in spring 2013 to discuss a new definition of lighting design quality in a workshop entitled “Non-visual effects of light on human beings”. The results of this meeting are to lead to a set of evidence-based recommendations for professional lighting planners and designers. The results of the spring workshop are to be presented and discussed at the PLDC pre-convention meeting.
If you wish to attend this meeting, please contact Ms. Louise Ritter at lritter@via-internet.com
This pre-convention meeting is free of charge.
CIE Workshop on International Standardisation
Standards facilitate trade in the global market, they foster innovations and provide confidence in new technologies, and they facilitate regulation aimed at developing new markets and practices. CIE is recognized as the international body for standardization of matters relating to the science, application and art of light and lighting, colour and vision, photobiology and image technology.
The five-hour (12.30 – 17.30) CIE workshop is designed to encourage lighting designers to play a part in CIE standardization, by explaining the relevance and benefits for the profession and the business environment and by familiarizing attendees with the modus operandi and dynamics of standardization.
Registration is required for this workshop.
Please contact Ms. Louise Ritter at lritter@via-internet.com for attendance.
This pre-convention meeting is free of charge.
