The LED Façade of the Galleria Centercity in Cheonan, South Korea by ag Licht and Light Life.
This project demonstrates the complete integration of a media installation into architecture, revealing no visible installation elements during daytime or night-time. The innovative LED structure is designed to align completely with the form of the architecture; the lighting effects are achieved using light reflected from the façade elements. Three different resolutions enable high flexibility in displaying animated contents.

Best Daylighting Project

The winner in the Best Daylighting Project category 2011 is:
The Fabrikstrasse 15 office building in Basle/CH by Gehry Partners/USA
The striking architecture allows daylight to be harvested, managed and monitored: low-E glazing with ceramic frits reduces solar gain, and a series of low-E-coated, sensor-operated interior shades cut glare and heat gain. Sound-absorbing lamellas diffuse direct sunlight while photovoltaic cells integrated into the glass roof panels generate power for the electric lighting and provide additional solar shading. Daylight pours into the entire building via the atrium and the glazed facades. Office workers enjoy the daylit environment and the view out on all sides.
