PLDC 2013 Partners’ presentations
As another new feature this year, we offered the Partner Associations and Partner Universities of PLDC 2013 the opportunity to provide a short presentation of their goals, activities or courses.
As we upload the presentations to our website, we would like to thank all our partners for their support. We are looking forward to welcoming them back for PLDC 2015 in Rome!

New components at PLDC!
This year PLDC will be offering a series of moderated discussions on some of the main topics of the conference. Brief but tightly focussed panel discussions of around 30 minutes will be offered, for example, on the topics of ‘Lighting in museums’ and ‘Lighting in hospitals and healthcare facilities’.
Lighting designers, architects, industry and clients will be discussing cutting-edge approaches, research findings, and the questions – and answers – they give rise to.
Discussions to be held in the PLDC lounge:
- Thursday, 31. October, 2013 – 13.30 to 14.00: The Professional Lighting Design community – what is it and what does this mean?
- Friday, 1. November, 2013 – 13.30 to 14.00: Museum lighting – where scientific research is taking us and what the repercussions for lighting design in museums are
- Saturday, 2. November, 2013 – 13.30 to 14.00: Lighting for hospitals and healthcare facilities – how lighting influences healing processes and patients’ well being
The moderated discussions are free-of-charge and open for all to attend.
Lichtforum NRW supports student to attend PLDC!
“Urban lighting and the way it can be sustainably woven into the public realm is becoming more significant by the day. To that effect lighting master plans are an important strategic instrument for public administration bodies, since they can contribute to the design of lighting schemes that are aligned to a specific set of criteria. However, even after many years of intensive work on the topic there is still a substantial amount of research that needs to be done to ensure we apply light in our towns and cities to better effect. Determining the indicators and defining the criteria for sustainable lighting design is an enormous challenge. It is therefore imperative that research in this field continues to be supported and funded. Lichtforum NRW is delighted to be able to support Ms Aicha Diakite by helping fund her presence at PLDC 2013, where she will be able to gather more impressions and input for her PhD studies.”
