PLDC 2013 Update
Friendly reminder – early registration ends in May
Preparations for PLDC 2013 are running smoothly but at full power and as usual with great attention to detail. PLDC is arousing tremendous interest, which in turn reflects the community’s interest in the new trends and changes within the lighting design industry.
The numbers of visitors to the PLDC website during the month of April corresponds to the immense growth in interest. The numbers recorded are twice as high as in the years before. Cumulative values have also doubled in comparison to previous years. We counted 20,000 unique visitors on our website up to the end of April.
We are happy to say this trend is also apparent in the current number of registrations for the event. By the end of April, along with the website values mentioned above, the number of registrations had already risen by over 120 per cent compared previous events.
Our team of organisers strongly recommends people to take advantage of the early registration rates and to plan their itineraries and hotel reservations as early as possible.
The pre-registration phase including best possible ticket prices ends on 24. May, 2013!

As a Platinum Partner, Selux will be co-hosting the official opening of PLDC 2013 on the evening of Wednesday, 30. October, 2013.
The decision to become a leading Partner of PLDC 2013 in Copenhagen is in line with Selux activities in Europe and overseas. As partners in the field of international project management the networking opportunities PLDC offers play a significant role in their strategy of working closely with multi-national teams.
The fourth track at PLDC 2013 in Copenhagen is entitled Sustainable Lighting + Design, which in itself is part of the Selux corporate philosophy.
Selux was a Gold partner at PLDC 2009 in Berlin and 2011 in Madrid.
Xicato sponsors PLDC 2013 as a Silver Partner
The PLDC team is happy to announce that Xicato have accepted the invitation to be a Sponsoring Partner of PLDC 2013 in Copenhagen.
Xicato is a recognized leader in creating LED modules that provide superior aesthetics, economics and durability. Xicato aspires to be the trusted partner of the global lighting design community and luminaire manufacturers and is “passionate about light”.
Xicato was a Silver Partner at PLDC in 2009 in Berlin and 2011 in Madrid.
Fourth track topic decided
Again the convention will be based on four tracks: professional issues, lighting application research, lighting design case studies, and – in 2013 – sustainable lighting + design. The fourth track reflects market discussions and is an indication of future lighting design trends. To us humans, sustainability means the long-term maintenance of responsibility, which incorporates environmental, economic, and social dimensions. Lighting design relates to all three. But what are the values lighting design can add to social sustainability: how does lighting design contribute towards creating and maintaining people’s quality of life? And what are the environmental aspects of lighting design, especially when they go beyond the standard energy-efficient light sources and lighting control issues? What role does lighting design play in relation to economic sustainability? How important is the use of SLL in all this? These are the kind of topics that will be addressed, knowing that every product is as good as the way it is used and integrated into the lighting concept, and every lighting designer is responsible for the application, how it works, and its effect on man and the environment.
The Call for Papers for PLDC 2013 will go out at the beginning of September 2012.
