A full-scale laboratory in a public space
To what extent do we agree about the spatial experience created by light? Do architects and designers experience space in the same way as people in general, or do they experience space differently? Can theories taught in design-led programmes possibly obstruct the pure visual experience? The effect of light distribution, the lighting layout, and the direction of light within the space are analysed in relation to the perceived space and its inherent atmosphere.
Ulrika Wänström Lindh is a PhD student at the School of Design and Crafts in the Faculty of Fine Arts, Applied Arts and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg. Ulrika has a background in interior design and architecture, and has also worked as a lighting designer.
