A healthy light

The paper is an exploration of contemporary thinking and research in the field of innovative design and health with an emphasis on lighting design. It offers solutions to the gap between the aspirational language about lighting design in health care institutions and the often disappointing constructed reality. The research paper presents an original methodology for the application of meaningful light for health and wellbeing in the healthcare system.

Rachel Burke is a Senior Associate with Electrolight and is a lighting designer of 20 years experience in fields of theatrical and architectural lighting design. She has worked nationally and internationally with most of Australia’s leading arts companies.
