Improving urban campus security with lighting: University of Pennsylvania case study

The city streets and residential neighborhoods surrounding an urban university become an extension of its campus. The university must ensure the safety of students both on and off campus. This presentation will describe the process for developing the lighting recommendations and for gaining acceptance from a disparate group of building owners. The presenters will share the results of the implementation to date.

Helen Diemer, FIALD, LEED AP is President and design principal of The Lighting Practice, an architectural lighting design firm in Philadelphia, PA, USA. In her 25 years in the lighting profession, she has designed lighting for public, corporate, university, healthcare and retail environments.
