Casting the net – developing a theoretical framework for lighting design
This presentation suggests that the conceptual and research worlds of environmental psychology, sitting as they do at the intersection of thought and research on how we change and are changed by our environments, provide lighting designers with rich conceptual waters within which to fish. Students and designers who are interested in grounding their practice in a broad discourse about the poetic, emotional, ethical and civic nature of our environment should not miss this presentation.
Linnaea Tillett, IALD is an award-winning lighting designer specializing in landscape and public space. Principal of Tillett Lighting Inc. for more than 25 years, she holds a doctorate in Environmental Psychology. Combining design and social science, Linnaea uses light to enhance delight, sustainability, and the perception of safety in public environments.
