Dr. Amardeep Dugar, PLDA/IND

Tangible lighting control interface: is this an iPod for lighting?

This talk essentially discusses Amardeep Dugar’s PhD research, which used the theories and science of human-machine interaction to develop new insights into designing lighting control systems. Lighting control systems can create different moods, save energy, assist sales and support productivity. But this research reveals that end-users have difficulty in using their complex interfaces. The audience will definitely benefit as this interface design is applicable to any type of hand-held touch-screen device.

Dr. Amardeep M. Dugar is the Founding Director of Lighting Research & Design, a firm that specialises in applied research and design consultancy. He holds a BArch, MA in Architectural Lighting and a PhD in Architecture with a core focus on lighting design. He is a practising lighting designer with over six years’ experience in the field and has also been a frequent contributor to several international publications in architectural lighting and related fields
