Practical session on digital light

Digital technology is quickly changing the way people throughout society work, socialize and entertain. The lighting design profession is affected. New technology means new skills and knowledge are required. It also opens up new opportunities for artistic expression and the creative use of light and for saving energy. Are you up-to-date on all this?

This session aims to disseminate and debate the current trends in digital lighting. The common tools and technologies will be presented. The aesthetics of digital light and the opportunities for new kinds of visual communication will be discussed and opened up for debate. The session will include case studies and live demonstrations.

Tapio Rosenius, PLDA/E

Tapio Rosenius is a director of Madrid and London based design studio Lighting Design Collective (LDC). His background in film and show lighting regularly influences his lighting design work. He founded Lighting Design Collective to act as a collaborative platform between professionals from the worlds of architecture, lighting design, visual arts, interaction, film production, and motion graphics. Their work integrates digital light art, projection mapping and interactivity within architectural lighting. Tapio lectures regularly at universities, trade fairs and professional conferences about lighting design for the built environment. Tapio is currently Director of Membership for the Professional Lighting Designers’ Association (PLDA) and guest Academic Director at Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSAM).
