The old city of Jerusalem lighting master plan
After two decades of expanding urban lighting programmes, the lighting master planning for heritage cities needs new strategies and new approaches in relation to the trend to design ecologically, and has given rise to new concerns and answers about light pollution. Professionals are expecting new philosophies to plan the nightscapes of heritage cities as well as the cities of tomorrow. This study on a very old and beautiful walled city in a very specific territory with complex political issues opens up a new field of thought for the development of and a new approach to “urbanisme lumière”.
Roger Narboni, ACE, PLDA graduated from Orsay University with a Master's degree in Electronics. In 1988, he founded the Concepto lighting design practice. Since then, he has realised numerous landscape, urban and architectural lighting designs. In 1987, he created a new discipline: “Urbanisme Lumière” (Light Urbanism), and since then has realized more than 110 lighting master plans in France and abroad.
