How to establish a successful lighting design practice

Over the last six years, Paul has led his office from sole practitioner to one of Australia’s leading lighting design firms with a team of twelve, over 200 commissions and several awards. This paper discusses what he has learned along the way, the intention being to share his experience to help others and empower them to make their own unique contribution to the field of professional lighting design.

Originally from the UK, Paul Beale, IALD, IESANZ read engineering at the University of Northumbria before joining the international consulting engineering firm Arup in London and heading the Melbourne office from 1999 until founding Electrolight in 2004
