This paper will focus on client relations. How can lighting designers improve client relations and their understanding of client and user needs? How can clients be encouraged to understand lighting designers better? The paper will address the fundamental aspects of ‘getting the work done’ while achieving good results from both an economic as well as an artistic point of view. Kai Piippo, PLDA is the managing design principal of Ljusarkitektur, which was established 1991.

Kai Piippo gives lectures in universities and at lighting events around the world and was involved in developing the format for PLDA lighting workshops. Among his greatest interests is the difference between lighting cultures, and how light can enhance the quality of life.
