Getting color right: improved visual matching with LED light sources

Color differences between light sources can occur due to initial manufacturing tolerances, differential aging, but also because of differences in lamp technology and emission spectra. The goal of the presentation is to help lighting designers and architects to better understand the requirements for obtaining uniform colour, and in particular the uniform appearance of white, in lighting installations.

Gerard Harbers is co-founder of Xicato, and currently serves as Chief Technology Officer. Prior to Xicato, he held various technical and management positions at Philips Research Laboratories, Philips Lighting, and Lumileds. Dr. János Schanda, OSA, IS&T, AIC graduated in physics at the Loránd Eötvös University in Budapest and is now Professor Emeritus from the University of Pannonia in Hungary. Since retirement he has been head of the “Virtual Environment and Imaging Technologies Laboratory”.
